I've been receiving therapy for a knee replacement and automobile accident. I had of course, knee pain, among other injuries. They were patient and very compassionate. Due to severe scoliosis, I have always had a lot of issues throughout my entire spine, from neck to pelvis. The Physical Therapists at First Settlement Physical Therapy on Wheeling Ave in Cambridge are the only ones who have ever been able to actually help. I've been to several PT's throughout the years, with no or little improvement. They always did your standard 6-8 weeks of therapy, then shove you out the door. NOT these guys!! I'm currently 3 days shy of hitting 9 months of PT. I'm standing up without bending over like I'm 100 years old again! I'm catching up on housework! I can breathe better! If you're willing to put in the work, these guys will stand beside you and help guide you to a better, less painful, you. I was sent to the Cambridge location for therapy for a knee replacement.  All of the staff here,especially Wendy and Melissa have been fantastic.  Wendy got me where I needed to be ahead of schedule. Went to first settlement in Cambridge office following an auto accident for back pain . Had just had surgery on back 11 months prior. Melissa at the front desk is very personable and always had paperwork ready for me when I needed it . All of the different physical therapists I had were excellent . Rick and the rest of the staff were fantastic, very knowledgeable and engaged. Physical therapists I've been to in the past have just put me through my paces with no real interest in helping me make progress, plan for how to maintain my health, or even understand what we were doing. Rick restored my faith in physical therapy. He has a deep knowledge of how the body works, more like what you'd expect from an m.d., and did a great job communicating this to me. This helped me understand how to do the exercises properly,  and motivated me to do them regularly,  even after leaving therapy. He tracked my progress thoroughly, so when I had a session with a different therapist at FSPT, they were able to pick up where he left off. When I went in, I had a hard time standing straight up. They help work on the strength of my legs and back muscles.  When I left there I was able to stand straight up and walk a short distance, due to my handicaps. You don't know what's it's like to stand upwards instead of bent over all the time. FSPT is very thorough and has an extremely friendly atmosphere.  They made sure I had an hour of PT each visit followed by 10 minutes of ice treatment.  The atmosphere was calm and soothing each time I was there.  I left each visit feeling much better than when I arrived.  I would highly recommend FSPT.

Never having physical therapy before I was a bit scared and concerned. They allowed me to visit their facility beforehand and see what they do. When I actually started they were all so friendly and encouraging. They listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. I’m actually going to miss going to physical therapy when it’s finished. I did my research on the Physical Therapy options in the area.  FSPT was far and above the best choice that I could have made.  Mike and Emily were excellent. All of the therapists are great! Very fun and cheery place to go for therapy!  Its great to go to a place that cares about you and getting you better!  Many different types of equipment and exercises. Therapy is fun!  Then write a review of how much fun you had at your therapy sessions! I have been coming to FSPT for almost 6 months and they have been awesome.  My shoulder was frozen and the rotator cuff had shut  down and they have helped me immensely.  I basically have full range of motion now and just need to build up the strength in that arm again.  I have been to other PT places for other problems and FSPT is right up there with them.  The therapists are all very  skilled and knowledgeable about what I need to do to get those muscles working again.  They watch carefully to make sure that my technique is correct, and they are all very friendly, so even though it hurt to do the exercises they made it an enjoyable experience.  I would highly recommend FSPT to anyone who needs PT.
