Shoulder Problems Treatable with Physical Therapy
Shoulder Joint Pain – The design of our shoulder joint is such that it sacrifices stability for mobility. This places our shoulders at high risk for injury. Any injury to the ligaments, bursae, or tendons surrounding the shoulder joint can be a source of pain.
Rotator Cuff Tear – The rotator cuff is a network of four muscles that help to lift and rotate the arm and to stabalize the ball of the shoulder within the joint. Most rotator cuff tears are the result of overuse of the muscles and tendons over a period of years. However, a tear can also occur as the result of traumatic injury, such as a fracture or dislocation.
Bursitis – This condition is an inflammation of a small fluid filled pad, called a bursa. Bursae serve as cushions for your bones and the tendons and muscles near your joints. The shoulder is a common location for this condition to occur.
